SummerlandThe Municipality of SummerlandSummerland is another gem in the Okanagan with its' mixture of character, charm, and convenience. Located just 10 minutes North of Penticton on HWY 97, many families live here and work in Penticton or Kelowna. The downtown area has an old world British Tudor theme that's inviting and kitsch. Life is a little quieter than in Penticton but by no means is there nothing going on in Summerland.
After checking out the downtown area, head down to what's known as lower town Summerland, just down the hill next to the Lake. Here you will find stunning beaches, homes close to the lake and right on the lake front, parks and more. One of the loveliest spots is on Rotary Beach, where you will find a park with a beach, floating pier, washrooms and picnic tables. At one point Philip lived nearby here and enjoyed coming down with friends. The marina is also nearby as is the Summerland Waterfront Resort. Boat up and have dinner at the Locale Lounge and grill, one of both Philip and Diane's favourite places, enjoy the beach, and if you're in from out of town stay at the hotel. One of the most popular areas of Summerland is Trout Creek. Located just down the HWY from the Main town of Summerland it is nestled right on the Lake. Trout Creek has its own elementary school, quiet and beautiful streets, and a couple of the most beautiful beaches around. Powell Beach and Park is a gorgeous spot looking North on Okanagan lake. It's quieter and more laid back, has lots of beautiful trees and is a great place to spend your summer. Check out Sunoka Beach, where you can boat right up and stop, enjoy the fire pits along the beach, shade from the trees behind, and a great spot to go wake boarding or surfing. Of course, we cannot overlook that Summerland also has tons of great wineries, fruit stands, and golf to enjoy! If you're a golfer like Phil is, check out the Summerland Golf Club and play a round in the beautiful Okanagan sunshine. Another must do, and a favourite of Diane, is to go to Summerland Sweets. Get some delicious jam, grab an ice cream and take a walk over the KVR trestle to try and catch a glimpse of the famous Garnett Valley Gang train ride and robbery. Once you've had a chance to stroll downtown Summerland, walk the beaches and parks of lower town and Trout Creek, have a great meal, and a play a round of golf.. Its time for some wine! Here below are some of our top picks for wineries in Summerland. Wineries:Think you want to call beautiful Summerland home?? Check out the listings for sale in the area. |
